Bandhavgarh Tigeress

Bandhavgarh Tigeress

Best of Tiger Parks : Let us be in Central India, made prosperous, to this day, through the legacy of the British officers, doctors, engineers, and army personnel, who emerged as voluntary but great patrons of natural history of India which they administered until 1947. Kanha, Pench (Kipling's country), Panna, Tadoba, Bandhavgarh are the last wilderness refuges of that rich heritage. This belt constituted the core tiger-corridor between the north and south India : through this one time contiguous forest, the tiger would move hundreds of kilometers, from north to south, to introduce new genetic inputs to its females, thereby maintaining a decent and healthy progeny. This, however, is not possible today as the contiguity has been severed; people and their development oriented projects have caused such parks to defend their habitat in the form of green-islands on this tableland dominated by Sal and Teak forests. It is to the credit of present day authorities that Tiger sightings are possible, and albeit to an extent ensured, in these parks. Hence, their immense popularity!

We can visit all these five parks (and then cover Ranthambhor) in a sequence: From New Delhi reach Nagpur (train or air). Drive (5hrs.) visit Tadoba Project Tiger (3 nights). Drive (7hrs.). visit Pench Project Tiger (3 nights). Drive (3.5hrs.), visit Kanha Project Tiger (4 nights). Drive (6 hrs.), visit Bandhavgarh Project Tiger (4 nights). Drive (5 hrs.), visit Panna Project Tiger (2 nights). Drive (3.5 hrs.), board train at Jhansi and reach Agra in evening; transfer to Bharatpur (Keoladeo National Park) or stop for overnight in Agra to see the Taj. We can have a wonderful birding recess at Keoladeo Park (3 nights). Board train and reach Sawai Madhopur to have our final date with the magnificent cat, (3 nights). Board the train to reach New Delhi. And with loads of tiger-photographs, oil and water color paintings, and of course lasting memories, of this first ever baptized Tigertail Tour, it is the end of our India extravaganza, to start our usual innings back home.

Loads of Birds : There are other Itineraries in store for you : Bird watching + Tigertail Tours + Culture.
